Read-a-Thon Progress

Posted on: September 3, 2009

Accentuate the positive, right?  Here are the books I’ve read so far this month, each with a mini-review:

Breaking the Rules by Susan Andersen

The second book in The Sisterhood Diaries, a series about three childhood friends who inherit a mansion.  The mansion is less of an element in this book than in the first book, but the trio of friends is central.

This is Poppy’s story, following up on her meeting the police officer Jason de Sanges in Cutting Loose.  They have very different views on how three teenagers caught spray painting public buildings should be taught a lesson, but working together teaches both of them lessons they needed to learn.

A fun and fast read, I can’t wait until the third one comes out.

Living With the Dead by Kelley Armstrong

The ninth book from the Women of the Otherworld series.

A quick read, and an enjoyable continuation of the world Armstrong has created.  It was very nice to see a “regular” heroine in this world of supernaturals, and great to see Hope and Karl again.

Where There’s a Witch by Madelyn Alt

The fifth book in the Bewitching Mysteries series.

This is my favorite book in the series so far.  Maggie is an engaging heroine, and she is coming to accept ther empathic abilities, even though they cause difficulties with her family and town.

Scandal by Amanda Quick

Set in Regency England, a book that takes two damaged characters and has them find a hopeful future together – in spite of their initial plans. A thouroughly enjoyable read.
